Broadband Act of 2011 (05.07.2010)

Scholars wishing to make their voices heard and interested in participating in the national debate on the future of the Internet and broadband networks are offered the opportunity to do so through this Workshop. Action by Congress may supersede the FCC’s proposal to reclassify the regulatory status of broadband and redefine the scope of the FCC’s authority. This is an opportunity to provide timely input to policy makers. Submissions by young scholars and new and diverse voices are particularly invited.

Conference: Stockholm Model United Nations
Conference: Stockholm Model United Nations (28.06.2010)
SMUN brings together university students for active discussion and engagement in issues of world politics. The conferences demand much of the students, in terms of knowledge and diplomatic skills; the pay-off, however, is one which benefits the participating delegates for the rest of their lives. SMUN sets the framework within which interest is turned into involvement, and theory is turned into practice. A Model United Nations conference – also known as ‘Model UN’ or simply ‘MUN’ – is an authentic simulation of the work in a UN committee such as the Security Council, or other regional and international organisations, such as the African Union or the WTO.

The Passage by Justin Cronin joins a growing number of vampire thrillers. There is nothing romantic, however, about Cronin's villains. He paints a pictures of a post-apocalyptic world where a small colony of human survivors stay protected from the "dracs" by a massive barrier of lights that repel the demons. The lights will soon fail, though, and the humans must find another way to survive.
