At this time (fall 2011) there is a concrete opening for a phd position in the context of a Marie-Curie network. The specific problem to be addressed is development and application of theoretical/computational methods aimed at describing two-photon absorption. This in turn touches on major fundamental issues in theoretical chemistry with potential applications to photoactive proteins. A significant part of the work with be hard core theory and program development.
Eligibility:
Successful candidates are expected to have a strong background in theoretical Chemistry, Physics, Nano-science or similar, and have the ability and willingness to work with theory meaning both the basic equations, their realization in modern quantum theories for electronic or nuclear degrees of freedom, programming and scientific computation. Only candidates which can meaningfully be considered as having such a background should apply and expect an answer
