2012 Summer Undergraduate Research Program at Loyola University, USA

Undergraduate Summer Research Program is sponsored by the faculty and Department of Microbiology and Immunology of Loyola University Chicago. The program is designed to provide a stimulating “hands on” research experience for students who are considering graduate education in molecular Microbiology or Immunology. Under the guidance of a selected faculty member, the student will actively participate in an ongoing research project. He or she will learn basic research skills, attend various scientific seminars and journal clubs, participate in a series of special summer workshops and present his or her results to the department. Students will learn many modern research techniques.
Training Fellowship Programs for Arrhythmias and Cardiac Pacing with Emphasis on ICD/CRT, France

One-year Training Fellowships are offered to provide physicians the opportunity for clinical training in arrhythmia and cardiac pacing in a regular ESC Member Country or ESC Affiliated National Societies, preferably outside their home country. Physicians need to have completed their cardiology training but not yet obtained a consultant or equivalent permanent status. This training fellowship aims at promoting the development of academic medicine in the field of arrhythmias and cardiac pacing with emphasis on ICD/CRT and is designed for physicians with more extensive experience in the fields of cardiology and electrophysiology. The fellows shall gain advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of: pacemaker and ICD including bi-ventricular pacing in heart failure patients, leads and devices extractions and other challenging cases.

The “Heroes’ Legacy Scholarships” program honors not only those who have fallen in battle, but all who have died or have become disabled through their active military service since September 11, 2001. The program is open to their dependent unmarried children under age 23. A disability is defined as one that results in the service member being eligible for, and receiving, Traumatic Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance (TSGLI) or a permanent and total disability compensation rating of 100%.

The application process is the same for each type.All four-year scholarships activate in the fall of your freshman year. All three-year scholarships activate in the fall of your sophomore year. All three-year scholarship designees must complete AFROTC. AFROTC Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps training during their freshman year in order to retain eligibility to activate their scholarships at the start of their sophomore year.

The National Center for Learning Disabilities is seeking applicants for the 2011-2012 Allegra Ford Scholarship. The Allegra Ford Scholarship is a $2,500 one-time scholarship awarded to a high school senior with a documented learning disability (LD) who will be enrolled, in the fall of 2012, at a two-year community college, a vocational or technical training program, or a specialized program for students with LD. The ideal Allegra Ford Scholar is a student who articulates his or her LD and recognizes the need for self-advocacy, is committed to post-high school academic study/career training and has begun to set realistic career goals, has demonstrated perseverance and is committed to achieving personal goals despite the challenges of LD, participates in school and community activities.

Jackie Robinson Foundation provides Scholarship for minority high school students in USA in the field of any subject. Through its Education and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships of up to $7,500 annually to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice. All candidates interested in applying for the scholarship must be a United States citizen, a graduating, minority high school senior, plan to attend an accredited and approved four–year institution within the United States, have leadership potential and dedication to community service, present evidence of financial need.

The University of Utah Alumni Association Nonresident Scholarship for Incoming Freshmen was created to assist in meeting the tuition and on-campus housing needs of out-of-state students who are the children/grandchildren of University of Utah graduates. Six scholarships valued at $5,900 will be awarded: $3,000 will be applied toward a nonresident tuition waiver and $2,900 toward a partial housing waiver through University Residential Living. It is possible for the recipients to renew the scholarship for an additional year if they maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 the first year of school. Students must complete a minimum of 12 hours each semester. Applicants may also want to access the Financial Aid and Scholarships Web site for information about the new Alumni Nonresident U Tradition Award and Heritage Scholarship Program.

The North Carolina Petroleum and Convenience Marketers Scholarship Plan is designed to assist convenience store employees, direct store delivery vendors, and their immediate families with financial help for attending a post high school institution of their choice. Selection criteria includes academic achievement, work history, community involvement, and financial need, but does not consider age, race, color, or sex. The school must be an accredited vocational school, two-year or four-year college or university. The plan is administered by the North Carolina Petroleum and Convenience Marketers.

IHNA Nursing Scholarship for Hispanic Students 2012-2013, USA

Illinois Hispanic Nurses Association provides Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarship in Nursing for Hispanic students in USA. These scholarship awards are presented to IHNA members enrolled in baccalaureate or graduate degree programs (BSN, MSN, PhD, DNP) from accredited nursing programs. Selection of recipients is based on current academic standing and other designated criteria. Scholarship award recipients are a select group of Hispanic students who demonstrate promise of future professional contributions to the nursing profession and who have the potential to act as role models for other aspiring nursing students. To qualify for the scholarship award, the applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing and be a United States citizen or legal resident of the United States. The number of scholarships offered each year is dependent upon the amount in the scholarship fund.
