2012-13 Law & Society Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Law School, USA

The Institute for Legal Studies of the University of Wisconsin Law School will appoint a post-doctoral fellow for the 2012-13 academic year. We invite applications from scholars who are in the early (pre-tenure) stage of their career or whose careers have been interrupted or delayed. Eligibility is limited to humanities or social science scholars who work in the law and society tradition, for example, anthropologists, economists, historians, political scientists, and sociologists. Advanced ABD graduate students may apply, but the PhD must be completed before beginning the fellowship. The stipend will be $25,000, plus a research allowance of $5,000 and benefits that include health insurance. The fellowship is designed to support a scholar at an early stage in his or her career when, under prevailing circumstances, career pressures or teaching responsibilities might divert the individual away from research.

An Italian donor and fan of Jeremy Brett – Ms. Pia Trona of Peruja provides Undergraduate, Masters and PhD Jeremy Brett Scholarships in the field of Acting, Music theatre, Theatre practice, Applied theatre, Movement, Voice, Stage Management, Puppetry, Scenography, Sound Design, Theatre design, Drama therapy and Drama and Media studies in UK. On the anniversary of one of the UK’s most celebrated actors’ deaths, an Italian donor and fan of Jeremy Brett (who starred most famously as Sherlock Holmes in the ITV/Granada show of the same name from 1984-1994) has come forward to establish a scholarship awards programme in his honour at the Central School of Speech & Drama for students needing financial support.
2012 Commonwealth/Chevening Scholarships For African Human Rights Advocates at University Of Oxford, UK

University Of Oxford provides Scholarship for Master’s students from African Commonwealth countries in International human rights law at the University in UK. The five scholarships provide fully funded opportunities for part-time postgraduate study in international human rights law, starting September 2012. The course of study is taught over 22 months and consists of two residential sessions in Oxford and two periods of distance learning. The scholarships are intended for human rights advocates from African Commonwealth countries (see Appendix 1 for list of eligible countries) who would be unable, without assistance, to take up their place on this course. Subject to satisfactory progress, the scholarships lead to the award of a Master of Studies (MSt) in International Human Rights Law. Each scholarship provides course and college fees at the University of Oxford over two years, a stipend to cover living costs and return air travel from the scholar’s home country for each residential session.

If you’re a high achiever, Griffith wants to reward and acknowledge your efforts via the Sir Samuel Griffith Scholarship. Applicants with a score of OP1 to 3 (UAI 99.95-96.00 or equivalent) are eligible to apply, however, applicants expecting an OP4 to 6 (UAI 95.50-90.00 or equivalent) with exceptional personal achievements are also encouraged to apply. Successful Sir Samuel Griffith scholarship recipients are automatically given membership to the Griffith Honours College.

A Clarkston Scholar is a highly-driven student who excels in the classroom, has a focused interest and passion for the Life Sciences industry, and intends to enter the Life Sciences industry upon graduation. The Clarkston Scholars Program will provide one sophomore attending a four year college/ university undergraduate program in Pennsylvania, majoring in a Life Sciences related field of study a $10,000 scholarship award ($5,000 per year for junior and senior year). In addition, the Clarkston Scholar will receive exposure to the Life Sciences industry through mentoring with Clarkston Consulting and participation in Pennsylvania Bio events over the course of the two-year scholarship award period. The recipient will be awarded the scholarship at the Pennsylvania Bio Annual Dinner to take place in March 2012.
VEST Two-Year Fellowship at Curry School of Education, University of Virginia, USA

The Virginia Education Science Training (VEST) program integrates the use of theoretical models of causal inference from various sciences (e.g., psychology, economics, biostatistics) with research designs, analytic techniques and methods that support causal inferences in studies of school, classroom and program effects. More specifically, training applies rigorous methods to three substantive research topics identified by IES: a) teacher quality, b) early childhood, and c) social and behavioral contexts for academic learning. Conceptual and methodological emphases in the core curriculum ensure students are proficient in developing and testing research hypotheses through research designs and through experimental and quasi-experimental statistical procedures that support causal inferences. Students from Psychology, Economics, Sociology and other disciplines outside of the Curry School may apply during spring semester of their 2nd year in their doctoral programs (or later), to begin VEST in Year 3 or later of their PhD programs after having completed the majority of required doctoral coursework in their home departments.

Army Scholarship Foundation Scholarship, 2012-2013 USA

The Army Scholarship Foundation awards one-year financial scholarships (not grants or loans) on an annual basis to qualified and deserving students. The amount of award ranges from $500 to $2000 for undergraduate studies at accredited educational/technical institutions. Scholarship recipients may apply to renew their scholarships annually for a total of four years of higher education. Renewal is not automatic, but depends on academic performance and continued academic eligibility. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic record and participation in school and community activities.
