FEBS ADVANCED LECTURE COURSE TRENDS IN GENETICS: GENOMIC INSTABILITY AND PATHWAYS OF RESPONSE

FEBS ADVANCED LECTURE COURSE TRENDS IN GENETICS: GENOMIC INSTABILITY AND PATHWAYS OF RESPONSE

11.08.2010
Yerevan, Armenia, 20-26 February, 2011. Organizers: FEBS, YBA and YSU. Application submission Deadline: 10 OCTOBER 2010. FEBS Youth Travel Grants Application Deadline: 10 October 2010 Genomic instability is a characteristic of practically all human cancers. This often involves gross chromosomal abnormalities such as deletion and duplication of chromosomes or chromosome parts, chromosomal rearrangements and mitotic recombinations, generally termed as “chromosomal instability''. Other types of genomic instability are characterized by an increased rate of small-scale genetic changes (such as microsatellite instability). The role of genomic instability (GI) for cancer progression is a very important, yet unresolved question.
The goal of the advanced course is to bring together people who study the phenomenon of GI and the pathways of response from different prospective, for extended discussions and learning. It will provide participants a clear overview of the challenges and opportunities that exist in this new and exciting field, as well as concise and practical support of commonly used approaches.
